“Hindsight is twenty-twenty”, or so says the old cliché. But this expression is just talking about metaphorical hindsight – looking back on this past. Literal hindsight – seeing what’s behind you isn’t clear at all. Humans (contrary to what my mother used to tell me) do not have eyes in the back of their heads. But on the road, being able to see what’s behind you is a necessity in terms of safety. Unfortunately, it’s extremely difficult – cars are sometimes able to do it using a rear vision mirror, though such a method can distort perspective. But for larger vehicles, like trucks and motor homes, the only real solution is a rear vision camera.
Also known as a reversing camera kit, these devices allow you to see what’s going on right behind your vehicle, making turning and reversing far safer. They display a more accurate image of the road behind you than a mirror does, and also work in the dark, giving them an edge over mirrors. The video feed from the camera shows up on a monitor on your dashboard, which also includes a distance scale that helps you gauge distance between your car and obstacles (which is extremely useful when parallel parking or reversing).
Reversing cameras provide an advantage which makes driving safer, and you should never compromise on safety. Truck rear vision systems are really the only way to get a good view of what’s behind you when you’re in a vehicle of that size – wing mirrors simply don’t cut it. That’s why it’s imperative to have the best rear view camera that you can get for your truck, RV, or motor home. That way, you’ll always be able to keep an eye on the road behind you, and avoid any nasty collisions with obstacles behind you.
