Glare is an extremely dangerous phenomenon when driving. The bright shine of the sun, reflected in a mirror, can catch you by surprise and temporarily blind you. Worse, it can make it impossible to look in certain directions or from certain angles, simply because if you do so, you will get the sun in your eyes. This can become a severe limitation when reversing or parallel parking. Such procedures usually require extended looks over your shoulder, frequent head checks, and other things that might be impractical if the sun is behind you. If the glare discourages you from looking, you might be tempted to reverse or turn without getting a good look – and that can be the road to ruin.

Rear vision cameras help address this problem. By allowing you to view the road at a slanted angle that doesn’t look into the sun, a reversing camera kit can help you parallel park without being blinded by the light. The monitor provides excellent vision unhampered by glare, and gives you a more accurate depiction of the area around your vehicle anyway.

So don’t just rely on your polarised sunglasses, but keep yourself safe from glare-induced accidents with a reversing camera. It’s not enough to just close your eyes and hope for the best; reversing and parallel parking require careful judgment of distance, space, and angle. With a camera, you have the advantage in reversing and parking, and can always stay safe no matter what the weather. And for after the sun sets, cameras work much better in the dark than mirrors do.
